We are celebrating a win!!! Let’s face it, we love traveling and we love sharing it. We share it because we want to do so but it is so nice to see your numbers going up in followers and social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Youtube). For the past couple of months, we’ve been seeing Liebster Award nominations among our fellow travel bloggers and we just got nominated!! Not once but three times! This means that other bloggers appreciate what we’re writing, they like it, they share it and in some way, we are valued, and that is a huge win. Although our numbers are not the highest, someone else than our parents is reading our blog!
So… what are the Liebster Awards?
This award is aimed to connect bloggers as well as to help people to find travel blogs that they might like. You get nominated by other travel bloggers who have been nominated by other bloggers and so on and so forth. Apparently, liebster means beloved in German, so this is a love-award where bloggers nominate those other peers that they love.
But it is not just naming one another, it is about getting to know deeper some other bloggers by asking and answering questions: we’ve been asked some questions and we’ll give some questions to our nominees so you can get to know them.
A bit more about us
Although you can read more about us in our renewed About us
page, we would like to give you a hint of who we are:
We are Sara and Nacho, a Spanish couple who have been together for almost 13 years and traveling almost as much. However, we only started writing our first blog attempt in 2011, when Nacho moved to work to Angola. This was his way of telling his family and friends how amazing life was. We kept the blog and only occasionally wrote, but kept traveling and living abroad as we are part of the expat community.
A little over a year ago we sat down and decided to get back with the blogging but this time more seriously. Since then we’ve been posting weekly and we want to keep doing it. As said before, we are expats. We’ve lived (together or just one of us) in England
, and we’ve learned to love this way of living.
Our trips are always DIY, and since we stay in a country for a while we either explore the country itself or the region, learn about the culture, traditions and the food. We just can’t complain!
We’ve chosen our 11 favorite questions from the 3 blogs that nominated us, here we go!
Is there a song that instantly takes you back to a place you’ve traveled?
If you could go back to anywhere you’ve visited whilst traveling just one day, where would it be?
It’s impossible to choose just one. We’d love to go back to Bali
(although we’ve just been there), to Malawi
(as it has a piece of our hearts) and to Angola
(where all this started).
Best food you’ve discovered whilst traveling?
We looooove eating, so this is again a very difficult question. Best food we tried in Nepal
was mo’mo, in China
rice noodles with octopus, in Turkey
the Iskender kebab but we always miss Spanish food!
What activity is at the top of your bucket list, but you haven’t had chance to do yet?
We have experienced some great safaris
but there is one that we still have to do: Chobe National Park is calling us. And underwater we’d love to dive with the whale shark.
From Wanderlust Brunette:
How did you get into blogging and what are your goals and aspirations for your blog?
We started blogging when Nacho moved to Angola but we have become more serious in the past year. We just want to have fun and share our stories
, be helpful and have as many readers as possible.
Where is your next big adventure taking you?
Panama!!!! We are moving to Panama City, it will be a chance to get to know Central America, we have never been on that side of the Atlantic (well, NYC and Seattle but not in a long time)
What is the craziest thing you have ever done while traveling?
We’ve done whitewater rafting in Nepal, where we also tried paragliding. Driving a motorbike in the streets of Luanda, Angola.
Do you have a travel partner? And if so, how did you meet?
We have each other 🙂 We were once swimmers, and when Sara moved to study to Madrid she joined the club where Nacho was swimming, 6 months later this amazing love story began.
What is your favorite quote or book?
“I haven’t been everywhere but it is on my list” by Susan Sontag
From The Wandereuse:
How do you see your blog in 5 years?
We see it full of new stories and adventures, with a larger collection of countries and with many more travelers friends and readers.
What is it that you struggle the most with blogging?
The most difficult part is to produce something different to the rest, with a fresh point of view; we don’t know if we actually do this but at least we are writing it the way we would like to read it.
